Brief Biography of Rev. Dr. Bhojraj Bhatta
I was born in a Hindu Brahmin family in west Nepal. Came under the influence of Marxism/communism. At the age of 17 read about the man called Jesus of Nazareth and later met some Christians who introduced me the Bible. Consequently, surrendered my life to follow the teachings of Christ. From the age of 19, I have been telling people everywhere about the arms of grace that plucked me from the flames of hell.
By God's grace, my wife and I happen to be the instruments in starting a Churches Fellowship in Nepal; a church planting ministry that began from our living room in 1993. Today, the first Church in Kathmandu is a growing church with multiple branch churches.
I have had the privilege of teaching in many theological institutions over the years: Discipleship Training Center (1992-1993), Kathmandu Bible College (1993-1997, 2001), Nepal Bible Ashram (1994-1998), Nepal Bible College (1995-1998), Antioch Theological College and Seminary, Suji, Korea (2003-2004), and Asia Life University, Daejeon, Korea (2013-2015).
I was instrumental in helping the establishment of three Nepali Churches in Korea: Jubilee Nepali Fellowship (1998-2000), Youngnak Nepali Fellowship (2005-2006) in Seoul and Nepali Fellowship in New Heaven Church in Cheonan (2003-2004).
My wife comes from Manipur, India. I met her in a Bible College in Bangalore where she had come for her M.Div. after completing her B.Th. from Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Dehradun. Our only son Martin works for a software company in South Korea where from 2010 to 2015, I served as the preaching pastor of a growing International Church (Onnuri English Worship) and as an adjunct faculty at Asia Life University in the city of Daejeon.
Currently, I play a mentoring role for the ministry in Nepal, contribute, co-edit and publish the quarterly Journal, The Voice of Faith, and lead the mission department of Hope Church in pioneering new churches in India and Nepal. Our online teaching and preaching ministry reaches to Nepali speaking Christians around the world. And our local church in India aims to minister to English, Hindi, and Assamese speaking population locally and across the nation through various platforms.
My theological education took me to Bangalore for Bachelor of Theology (1992); to Seoul Korea for Master of Divinity (2001); and to Daejeon Korea for Master of Theology (2005) and Doctor of Philosophy in New Testament Theology (2012).
In 1985, I took water baptism in a church that did not believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. But a year later, miraculously in one Friday night at about 11PM, alone in my room, I was baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Got my first theological degree in a Pentecostal Bible College. In 2001, I was ordained as a Presbyterian Minister under the Presbyterian Church in Korea.
After moving to India, I submit myself under the spiritual guidance and fellowship of Christian Ministers' Covenant International. CMCI is a body of autonomous churches coming together to further the Kingdom of God in India and abroad.
Sharing the saving grace of God with everyone I meet is my greatest pleasure. This I have been able to do through preaching and teaching in various avenues and grateful to God for the Internet from which I continue to reach out to brothers and sisters across the nations.
